Maternal Health

Becoming a parent is one of life’s biggest changes, but it doesn’t always feel like “the happiest time of your life.” In fact, one in five new mothers will experience postpartum depression, anxiety, or other mental health concerns. These struggles can affect anyone, regardless of background or circumstance.

At RiverValley Behavioral Health, we understand how overwhelming this time can be, and we want you to know: you are not alone. We are here to help new mothers find the support, recovery, and strength they need to build a healthy future for themselves and their families.

The Reality of Maternal Mental Health

Postpartum depression and anxiety affect roughly 10–20% of new moms. Maternal substance use has also surged in recent years, making pregnancy and early motherhood more challenging for many families. Yet so many mothers don’t seek help because of stigma, shame, and feelings of isolation.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed, anxious, depressed, or ashamed, you’re not alone. We’re here to support you every step of the way.

At RiverValley, we walk alongside moms every step of the way, offering care and connection through evidence‑based, compassionate services, including:
