OWENSBORO, Ky. — RiverValley Behavioral Health is recognizing National Recovery Month, a time to celebrate the strength of people in recovery, raise awareness of mental health and substance use treatment, and promote resources that build hope and healing.
Recovery is about more than overcoming challenges; it’s about achieving whole health. RVBH recognizes that recovery includes whole health, encompassing mental, physical, emotional, and social well-being.
The Importance of Safe Spaces and Community in Recovery
Recovery does not happen in isolation. It is strengthened by connection, compassion, and safe environments. As we affirm this month, Recovery is strengthened in a safe and supportive environment. RVBH provides pathways of support to ensure people and families find stability and security on their recovery journeys.
Additionally, building social networks and a sense of community can support recovery. Programs such as those at The Gathering Pointe Recovery Community Center in Owensboro offer welcoming spaces where people in recovery can connect through activities, peer support, and events designed to foster belonging and support.
RVBH also emphasizes that a sense of meaning can bolster recovery efforts. Whether through reentry services, peer mentorship, or family-centered programs, finding purpose is a vital part of sustained wellness.
