An 80-bed private, non-profit psychiatric hospital specializing in in-patient programs exclusively for children and adolescents ages 4 through 18. The 70,000 square foot hospital sits on a scenic 40-acre campus that houses its own school, large gymnasium, and extensive activity areas. Child and adolescent psychiatrists insure the highest level of quality care for the children. Referrals, assessments and admissions occur on a 24/7 basis.

Children who represent a danger to themselves or others should come in immediately for an assessment. Common admission diagnoses include major depression, bipolar or other mood disorders, and some psychosis. Substance abuse and conduct disorders are treated as a secondary diagnosis. The hospital does not have an IQ level requirement, but does require that patients are mobile and can conduct their own personal hygiene. A typical patient is one who has not benefited from out-patient therapy, shows a reasonable ability to benefit from inpatient care or that requires hospitalization. The hospital's services are covered by most health insurance plans, MCOs, and by Medicaid coverage in Kentucky. The Hospital does not accept Tri-Care. Discharge planning staff insure that the referral source, the family, the child's school and primary care physician receive information necessary to plan for discharge aftercare.
