RIVERVALLEY HOSPITAL An 80-bed private, non-profit psychiatric hospital specializing in in-patient programs exclusively for children and adolescents ages 4 through 18. The 70,000 square foot hospital sits on a scenic 40-acre campus that houses its own school, large gymnasium, swimming pool and extensive activity areas. Child and adolescent psychiatrists insure the highest level of quality care for the children. Referrals, assessments and admissions occur on a 24/7 basis Common admission diagnoses include major depression, bipolar or other mood disorders, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and some psychosis. Substance abuse and conduct disorders are treated as a secondary diagnosis. Children who represent a danger to themselves or others automatically qualify for admission. The hospital does not have an IQ level requirement, but does require that patients are mobile and can conduct their own personal hygiene. A typical patient is one who has not benefited from out-patient therapy, shows a reasonable ability to benefit from inpatient care or that requires hospitalization. The hospital's services are covered by most health insurance plans and by Medicaid coverage in Kentucky, Indiana, and Illinois. Discharge planning staff insure that the referral source, the family, the child's school and primary care physician receive information necessary to plan for discharge aftercare. In- Patient Acute Care Services Offered:

RiverValley Hospital Out-Patient Services begin upon discharge and the child and family are schedule to meet with a therapist or continue under the care of their in-patient physician to insure continued progress. School-based Services are another step used in supporting a child or adolescent’s progress in their behavioral management growth by linking an out-patient therapist to the school to meet with the child and school staff on a weekly or as-needed basis. Therapeutic Foster Care is for children with severe and persistent emotional problems in need of a therapeutic foster care home with specially trained and supported foster care parents who can offer an ideal solution for the child's future. |
